Just south of Frankfort, Michigan in Benzie County, Blaine Township, you will find two beautiful Michigan Lakes, Lower Herring Lake and Upper Herring Lake. They are conveniently located just off M-22. Lower Herring Lake is 450 acres in size. It is 60 feet deep at its deepest point. Upper Herring Lake flows thru the Herron Creek, into Lower Herring Lake. Lower Herring Lake drains into Lake Michigan, which is just a three minute walk. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Crappie, Bluegill, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Yellow Perch.
